NOTE: I didn’t use ChatGPT this time too so please don’t mind the typos and the grammar.
Okay, I can’t believe that I am actually about to say this but… I can’t stop thinking about going back to Void Linux, I just can’t. Ever since I moved to Artix and I’ve been facing so many issues with pacman and I’ve and way too many errors stopped me from getting very basic applications, a few of them aren’t even from the AUR, just standard packages. Take CopyQ, for example, you can call me a newbie for using whatever, let’s see how your “minimal” clipboard manager manages screenshots and images in general. I get an error every time I try to get it, and I’m really not in the mode to build a clipboard manager from source. And as I said, if it stopped there, I could have just managed, figured it out, and forget about it, which is exactly what I did. I moved to xclip, and since my desktop now is way too sexy to be shared on the internet, I don’t really need to save screenshots anymore. SIDE THOUGHT ALERT: While typing that, I had this weird idea about what if someone had an OF account for their rice…
Anyways, I kept having this kind of error with multiple packages, and I started losing my mind. WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU REMOVE PULSEMIXER? I mean, I get it, pulse-audio is old-fashioned and all, but keep the damn mixer. Just because I moved to pipe-wire doesn’t mean I don’t need a nice-looking terminal-based mixer to control audio. What the heck? That shit is damn cool. If you want to remove it from your repos so bad, make a damn alternative. ANOTHER SIDE THOUGHT: Dude, making a terminal-based audio mixer would be a great project to boost my GitLab…
Anyways, even with all this going on, Arch Linux is still and will always be one of my favorite distros ever. I have way too many memories with pacman and the AUR right now, and the performance I got in Minecraft when I tried it on Arch was one of the many things I’m so thankful for the Arch devs for letting me experience. I know this mostly won’t happen, but if you had anything to do with making that masterpiece and you’re reading this right now, thank you, friend. With that out of the way, you may have already guessed where I’m heading… THE VOID is my next destination. I know I talked nonsense about it in the past blog and all, but… I can’t, man. The feeling I got when I was using Void was so cool that now I can’t fight it, and since now I’ve spent more time with the Runit system, I know enough to get past the issues I faced last time I tried it. I even made an auto-install script that will do all the work for me. I’ll just have to wait for everything to be installed, and the system should be up and running in minutes. I’ll just have to get used to the Firefox browser or patching suckless’s surf. That one is so cool too. I’m just so sick of suckless software that I can’t even get myself to patch dwm to fullscreen a window on super+f. Yep, that’s how lazy I am now. Alright, thank you so much if you made it all the way here. I really appreciate it. Take care of yourself, friend, and till we meet again, farewell.
Seth.
